During the Marcos Regime, on e of the objectives of President Ferdinand E. Marcos was to empower the grassroots of the government, thereby creating and establishing the barangay.

History tells us that the Municipality of Tagudin was absolutely a Poblacion. After further developments, it was told that around the 70’s came the division of the Poblacion into four (4) districts, namely: Del Pilar, Rizal, Magsaysay and        Quirino which was later transformed into Barangays.

Since the monument of our National Hero, Dr. Jose Rizal was located here, it was decided that this barangay be named after him.

Barangay Rizal is located in the center of the municipality hence, it was the center of trade and commerce where most residents are into business. There are also professionals and skilled workers and some had gone abroad to work for a living.

It is the heart of the town. Here you can find the Saint Augustine’s Parish, the century old Saint Augustine’s School founded on 1910, the Municipal Town Hall and the first Sun Dial in the Philippines.
